JANUARY COMMUNITY WARMTH COLLECTION
This is a brutal winter so far. The JCA Tikkun Olam Committee is launching a January Winter Warmth effort to collect supplies for our homeless and vulnerable neighbors. We will be bringing our collection to Craig’s Doors Shelter and the Amherst Survival Center. Please go through your closets or go to a store to get the following: Warm clothes: coats, shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece, pants, socks, thermal underwear, Warm hats, scarves, insulated gloves; men’s and women’s boots; hand and feet warmers; personal care products: soap, toothbrushes, disposable razors, shampoo, deodorant.
There are large boxes in the JCA foyer where you can drop off your donations. Please put your donation in a bag that won’t rip easily. Consider putting items in some of your handle bags that have been accumulating. If for any reason you can’t get out to drop off your donation email Judith Souweine (firstname.lastname@example.org) and one of our committee members will arrange to pick it up.
CRAIG’S DOORS HELP NEEDED NOW!
The JCA Tikkun Olam Committee has supported Craig’s Doors for several years, especially in January when student volunteers are in short supply. Craig’s Doors provides warmth, shelter, sustenance and welcome to our vulnerable homeless neighbors. Help is needed now with shelter set-up, meal service and clean-up. Volunteering at Craig’s Doors is important, rewarding, and eye-opening. Please join in our effort to help.
