Selichot, the traditional Saturday evening service that marks the onset of the High Holiday period, will be held this year on September 16. It is a time for special prayers, melodies, and reflections that usher us into the spirit of tshuva–repentance or returning.
Here in the Upper Pioneer Valley, we have the wonderful custom of sharing this service among the area Jewish communities. This year, it is the JCA’s turn to host. The service will be led by Rabbi Weiner, along with his rabbinic colleagues Andrea Cohen-Keiner (Temple Israel), Justin David (CBI), and Riqi Kosovske (Beit Ahavah), as well as the JCA’s own Ne’imah musicians.
The service begins at 8:15 pm in the JCA’s main sanctuary, and will be followed by a light reception in the library. Please join us for this opportunity to steady ourselves, open our hearts, and prepare for the work ahead.
